Effingham Supper 8 Motel

Effingham Supper 8 Motel

I remember when I first moved down here from Harvard Il, I lived in Harvard most of my life.I raised 5 kids there to it was a wonderful life but as we all know life can change on a drop of a dime !
Back in 2008 every thing changed for me, The stock market all but crashed, most of my friends started moving away to find work because a small town like Harvard can only provide so many jobs and there was more people then work!

The biggest  plant Motorola which employed over 300 workers closed their doors. well lets just say it hurt my loving little town,

On September 16, 2008, failures of massive financial institutions in the United States, due primarily to exposure of securities of packaged subprime loans and credit default swaps issued to insure these loans and their issuers, rapidly devolved into a global crisis resulting in a number of bank failures in Europe and sharp reductions in the value of equities (stock) and commodities worldwide.

The failure of banks in Iceland resulted in a devaluation of the Icelandic Krona and threatened the government with bankruptcy. Iceland was able to secure an emergency loan from the International Monetary Fund in November.

In the United States, 15 banks failed in 2008, while several others were rescued through government intervention or acquisitions by other banks. On October 11, 2008, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned that the world financial system was teetering on the "brink of systemic meltdown."

The economic crisis caused countries to temporarily close their markets. On October 8, the Indonesian stock market halted trading, after a 10% drop in one day. The Times of London reported that the meltdown was being called the Crash of 2008 and older traders were comparing it with Black Monday in 1987. The fall that week of 21 percent was not as large a drop as the 28.3 percent fall 21 years earlier, but some traders were saying it was worse. “At least then it was a short, sharp, shock on one day. This has been relentless all week.” Business Week also referred to the crisis as a "stock market crash" or the "Panic of 2008

Well not trying to bore you with all the details but I did want to share why I moved to Effinghan and
I really love living here its a much bigger town then what I am used too and I love what Effingham has to offer as well, lower cost as far as bills go,

I mean everything is cheaper here well not the" food" it is rising at a alarming rate! I will talk about that in an up coming post, lets just compare the savings I have always rented a home, my rent was 975.00 a month that is much lower here,Electric bill was on average 250.00,water was over 50.00 a month,
I had to pay for gas, that was on average over 200.00,and then there was  garbage" that was my cheapest bill it was 18.00 a month."

Since I have moved here I have saved 1000.00s of dollars,I have even saved enough to take a vacation,I have not been able to do that in years.

I bet by now your wondering what this all has to do with the supper 8 motel? I loaded everything in my truck and car that I could fit sold everything I couldn't and what I couldn't sell I gave to my church..

Once I got to Effingham I looked around for affordable rates and services,at motels, where I would stay to find work and a new home to move into.I must say that the supper 8 was great, it was a little pricy but it had a free breakfast and you could swim , you had access also to a fitness and weights,so I felt it was just what I was looking for in a short stay.

I ended up having to stay longer then I planed I even had to put my things in storage for that I used Storage Express, Effingham's Self Storage Specialists. they're located on the northwest side of Effingham, near Shumway, off Hwy 33 and North 1000th Rd/Lake Sara Road.
It is well protected to it is gated and has security cameras so I felt my stuff would be safe there!!

I just love to share things I like most about this great town of Effingham please return and look for more post on what I love also share this with others as well thank you for your support you are what makes this blog great have a wonderful day,
